Balms - Itch Stick
Warm weather brings the return of fun, outdoor activities, such as camping, fishing, hiking and gardening. Unfortunately, ticks, mosquitoes, gnats and other creepy-crawlies that like nibbling on humans enjoy this time of year, too!
My homemade anti-itch sticks are perfect for treating the discomfort of pesky bug bites. Their easy-to-apply form makes it convenient for letting older kids self-treat. The ingredients are all natural and can also be used on scrapes, scratches and other minor boo-boos, as well.
The base of this product is made with calendula infused oil. These flowers have natural benefits that assists with dry skin, cracks, eczema, scrapes, minor burns and sunburns, rashes, chapped lips, and pesky bug bites. It helps to reduce inflammation and promotes wound healing. This is what makes calendula infused oil such a beneficial application, as it can be used topically for many different ailments.
Lavender essential oil is known to soothe occasional skin irritations while lemongrass essential oil has anti-inflammatory properties. Inflammation is a major source of pain and itching following insect bites and stings. By reducing inflammation, lemongrass oil may make bites less painful.
